That's Weird Grandma
“That’s Weird, Grandma” offers a limited number of Sunday matinees each year, and they are starting NOW! I can’t tell you how many times we get calls after the matinees are concluded asking when there will be more. Friends, it’s a once in a year opportunity, and your opportunity is now!
Matinees are especially important to catch if you have youngsters who are in bed by the time we hit the stage at 8pm on Monday nights. “Sketch comedy” is not usually synonymous with “kid friendly”, but here is where Barrel of Monkeys’ performances are unique! Everything we perform is written by 3rd-5th graders from underserved elementary schools in Chicago, and the show is completely appropriate for all ages. Children aged 5 years and above will an extremely rewarding experience. If you are looking for some cutting edge, yet family friendly theater, we have shows all year round!
“Edgy and children’s theatre are terms that do not usually butt up against each other in a review…but [Barrel of Monkeys] is edgy children’s theatre that rivals anything done by and for grown-ups that comes out of those larger purveyors of Chicago-style sketch comedy.”
– Chicago Stage Review
See you on a Sunday at 2pm. Matinees go away after March 30, 3014! Reserve your tickets by calling 312-409-1954 or purchase online now.

School Shows
The Columbia Explorers Academy school show cast has conquered a polar vortex, fevers and even root canals to prepare a wonderful show for our students. Candied hearts, Northern Lights, old lemons, old ladies, surprise birthday parties, food fights and disco bathrooms are just a few of the elements in the show that will make it so much fun for our students today. ( Here’s a picture of Zoe, Geoff and Shay rockin’ out to “0 Gravity” and Jason Extracting a heart from a dead pig (Marika)...who later haunts him.)

That's Weird Grandma
TWG Weekly Update
January 26, our Sunday Matinee Series begins…
BUT! You have one more Monday night to see “That’s Weird, Grandma” until March 3.
Come on out to see these two classic Barrel of Monkeys Musical Gems!
CHITTERLINGS by Samuel ‘Mandark’ B., 5th Grade, Harold Washington Elementary
(Song composed by Curtis Williams)
I believe nobody should not eat chitterlings.
1st because, they’re yucky pig intestines.
2nd because, it is where the poop goes.
3rd because, they eat mud.
4th because, they are pork and I can’t eat pork, except for pepperoni.
NOT SO MUCH PRESSURE by Lazaireus P, 5th Grade, Morton Elementary School
(Song composed by Nicholas Hart)
I am Batman and I believe that I shouldn’t save the world every day. One reason why I think I shouldn’t have to save the world every day is because I is saving the world every day and he has a life and it should not just be about saving people because he could probably die just like other humans could. One more reason is because while he is outside trying to save the world who will save his family from danger because it’s not like he could teleport. The end

Say: “It’s not like I can teleport” for discounted tickets!
