A sponsored singer is a member of the larger Barrel of Monkeys family who wants to support our organization THROUGH SONG! It’s like when someone runs a marathon or sells cookies to make fundraising goals, BUT in this case these brave individuals are raising money through the power of Karaoke at our annual fundraiser Monkey-O-Kee! Jonathan Berry is a director in Chicago. Associate Artistic Director of the Griffin Theatre, and Artistic Associate with Steep Theatre, he has also directed plays for Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Remy Bumppo, Lifeline, The Gift, Theatre Mir, Eclipse, and Fox Valley Theatricals. According to Wickipedia, he was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, September 11, 1953 and is a Canadian International Correspondence Chess Grandmaster, an International Arbiter, a FIDE Master (FM) over-the-board, and a chess journalist and author. He is the only Canadian to hold international titles for over-the-board chess, correspondence chess, and chess arbiting. This may or may not be the same Jonathan Berry.

Jessie made her Broadway debut as Girl in “Once.” She is a Chicago based actor/teacher/improviser/musician. Chicago credits include work at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company, About Face, The Gift, The Hypocrites, InGen Productions and TimeLine. TV: “Boss”. Education: University of Colorado, School at Steppenwolf. She is half of the folk duo Erik and Jessie and is represented by Paonessa Talent Agency.

JC Brooks is the charismatic frontman of JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound. JC has a background in theater and acting as well as music. JC Brooks is determined to become the next in the long line of classic Chicago soul singers: Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, Syl Johnson - JC has learned from them all, and he’s got no illusions about what it takes to become a classic. Armed with The Uptown Sound, one of the most ferocious bands to ever crawl up out of the Windy City, JC’s live shows are all-out assaults on the audience, employing everything from raw punk to heart-drenched R&B. Elise Mayfield is an actress and baker from Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Ole Miss, Elise moved to the Windy City, where’s she’s completed training programs at I.O., Second City Conservatory, The Artistic Home, and earned a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. She is an ensemble member with The Ruckus Theater, where she performed in the recent production of Matawan. Elise has also been seen on stage with The New Colony, Tympanic Theatre, and Infusion Theatre. In addition to her theater pursuits, Elise is also a burgeoning baker and was seen on Season 5 of FOX’s MasterChef, where she cooked for chef/judges Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianich.
