Attention Class!!!
Let me start things off by giving mad love to our fantastic cast; our fearless leader, Mere, and my co-blogger, super duper Mike Tutaij. And now, if you would please open your books to chapter one.

Paderewski
As we all know, Paderewski was an incredibly talented pianist, composer, and politician, and though he was the third Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, he probably never went to a slumber party, where two of his best friends poured mustard all over his face while he was sleeping. In 1881, he moved to Berlin to study music composition, but while he was there, he probably didn’t get a part time job in the “Baby Factory”. And of course when his world renowned opera, “Manru” was performed at the Metropolitan Opera in 1902, a dancing pig probably didn’t knock on his dressing room door and ask him for a birthday pie. No, none of these amazing things ever happened to Ignacy Jan Paderewski… but they do happen in the Paderewski school show baby. All that fun after only one day of rehearsal, I can only imagine the great tales that are yet to come. So come on out to the show yall, it will make Ignacy oh so proud.
Class is dismissed.

Rachel brings down the house with her incredible vocals!!!!

Ka-Bloom!
TWG Matinee-style is cominatcha once again.
A new winner called Spiders makes its premiere .
This poem is both funny AND sincere (WHAT?????). It examines the many reasons Dejah does NOT like spiders.
Also, there’s one more sweet review we got from Steadstyle Chicago, which I forgot to mention last week.
Also this could be one of your last chances to see the ever popular Today I Am So Mad and 10th Date, as these Valentine’s Day pieces, while awesome, are SO mid-February 2010.
Be there.
Tix Here.
Running order down there.

That's Weird Grandma
Hey!
Check out these sweet reviews the show has received recently from Gapers Block and Chicago Theater Blog!
We’re at it again this Sunday at 2pm!
Both Valentine’s Day pieces were quite popular, Today I Am So Mad and 10th Date, so they will remain in the show.
But they may not last TOO long, so you’ll want to be there.
Also, a new piece makes it’s debut entitled Bad Boys wherein Shaq and Chris Brown terrorize Boston. You don’t want to miss it!
Come join the hilarity.
Running order is below (with updated story links!)
See you at the plays!

School Shows
After School Program
Imagine a universe with no men, just women. And these women happen to be intergalactic emissaries of the planets of our solar system. They have met to discuss two important issues: they want something to do and they want something not like them. Eons pass as they experiment, creating sports and eventually creating…A MAN.
All of this from the imagination of a student in our after-school program at Loyola Park. Wowee!
I always love the Loyola Park show - the stories are wild, wacky, and not afraid to push the envelope. Luke gave a great opening speech about how many of these students have participated in Barrel of Monkeys for years, and that we should step up our game to show them something they’ve never seen before! This show has a set of stories in particular centered around a town…Singing Town…and vary from cats that write letters to the editor about why singing town is great, to a song written by Ricky about how we should sing ALL THE TIME and finally an incredible argument about how constantly singing is ANNOYING.
Plus, performing in our space at Loyola Park feels like home. We can add a lot of nuance to the show when it’s in an intimate space vs. a large gym where the acoustics can be tricky and we have to play big and large. It allows us to be subtle actors. There is some particularly subtle acting work being employed in a story about a lactose intolerant dummy in a land of cheese who goes on a rampage.
Stay tuned!

We’re Back!
A brand spankin new round of TWG opens Sunday, February 7 @ 2pm.
We have some BRANDED, never-before-distributed prizes to give out.
Some ole greats remain in the show, but for how long?!
Don’t worry, a certain piece about a fantastical milieu where you can remain indefinitely is still in! phew.
In fact, that piece is on the verge of challenging for the title “longest running story in TWG”, rivaling Kung Fu Guys and, naturally, The Dog was Dead.
Okay. The NEW pieces going into the show this week are:
Mask Lady parts 1-3 in which Gracie, who lives in castle, causes trouble all over the globe.
The sincere Graffiti Argument about why there shouldn’t be graffiti.
And…finally…an old classic returns. The Girl Who Ruined Her Sister’s Life.
Get Ready! (by getting your tickets here).
Running order is below.
